“Pennsylvania Democrats say keeping three state Supreme Court justices on the bench must be voters’ biggest priority this fall. Advocates cautioned that losing Democrats’ court majority could change Pennsylvanians’ access to ballots, workplace rights and reproductive care.

“Robes that these judges and justices wear are black: They’re not red, they’re not blue. Justices and judges wear black robes for the people, not for the political parties,” said Kadida Kenner, of the New Pennsylvania Project. “The allegiance that these justices have is to the Pennsylvania Constitution.”
