“On Nov. 4, voters across Pennsylvania will pick candidates to fill a variety of vacancies on state courts and decide if some sitting justices retain their seats on the bench.
Berks County voters will also vote in county court races and retention decisions.
On Saturday, the Berks County Democratic Committee held a special event to help ensure the people making those choices are well informed about whom they’re selecting and their role in government.
“I really want to express how important these elections are because down-ballot drop off is huge,” Kadida Kenner, founding CEO of the New Pennsylvania Project and moderator of the event, told the crowd that gathered at the committee’s headquarters in Reading. “Most people don’t know who they are or what they do. So we have to make sure we take the time to research these candidates so we can make really good decisions for you and your loved ones.”
The “Judging the System” event featured a panel discussion with judges, legal experts and community leaders about the real-world impacts of the court system, looking at topics such as redistricting, reproductive rights and school funding.”
