Organizing Director

Full Time – Senior Leadership

Exempt

Reports to: Chief Strategy & Organizing Officer

About the New Pennsylvania Project (C4)

The New Pennsylvania Project (NPP) was established in May 2021 modeled by the success of the New Georgia Project. NPP is a voting rights organization with a year-round primary focus on voter registration, civic education, and mobilization. NPP centers historically disenfranchised and often neglected Black, Indigenous and other people of color communities, immigrant communities and the youth in our work. Through civic engagement, we ensure all eligible voters feel compelled to exercise their freedom to vote in the Commonwealth.

The New Pennsylvania Project has a shared services agreement with the New PA Project Education Fund (“NPPEF”), a non-partisan 501(c)3 voting rights organization. Staff may, at the request of NPP, provide similar services to NPPEF. Any time spent providing services to NPPEF will be considered part of the hours and duties set forth by NPP.

About New PA Project Education Fund (C3)

The New PA Project Education Fund (NPPEF) is a nonpartisan organization led by community leaders across the Commonwealth. NPPEF is dedicated to providing all Pennsylvanians with the opportunity to exercise their voice, power and leadership as full participants in the democratic process. NPPEF centers the youth, immigrants, and Black, Indigenous and other communities of color because these communities are the least represented and most impacted by decisions our government is making.

About the Position

The Director of Organizing is responsible for supporting the implementation and management of the New Pennsylvania Project and New PA Project Education Fund’s in-state community organizing program. This will include directly working with all in-state program staff and every regional organizing director, in  rural, urban and suburban regions across the state.

The Director of Organizing will create leadership development opportunities for their direct reports, which include the Deputy Director of Organizing and the Director of Quality Control. As a member of Senior Leadership, the Organizing Director will operate as part of an integrated team that works across different programmatic areas of work to further the success of both NPP and NPPEF.

The Director of Organizing will be responsible for assisting in the implementation and management of systems and strategies to support the ongoing efforts of the Organizing Department.

Because our target communities and colleagues come from a wide range of backgrounds, this position needs to be able to thoughtfully navigate issues related to diversity, race, equity and inclusion, and bring a deep commitment to advancing these values. Additionally, this position has recurring work situations that involve having a high degree of discretion. The need for accuracy and effective utilization of accepted programs and routines is high. Errors in judgment will waste resources and adversely impact performance.
