Why Judicial Elections Matter:

Pennsylvania is one of only seven states in the entire country where voters elect all their judges and justices in partisan elections. This makes PA voters very powerful. Depending on the court, these positions hold tremendous influence over our voting rights, access to the ballot, access to abortion, fairly funded public school education, community safety, and fairness in the justice system. Common Pleas courts could make rulings regarding family and landlord disputes and other civil and criminal matters,

An engaged and informed electorate is key to ensuring voters vote all the way down the ballot for our judicial elections and make good decisions to elect leaders who reflect their values.

The New PA Project Education Fund (NPPEF) is a non-partisan organization led by community leaders across the Commonwealth dedicated to centering underrepresented and underserved communities to embrace their power. NPPEF ensures full participation in the democratic process through civic education and year-round engagement by centering Black, Indigenous, and other people of color, immigrant communities and the youth – with intention – as they are the least represented and most impacted by decisions our government is making.

Alliance for Justice (AFJ) stands as the premier nonprofit organization committed to fortifying the progressive movement through its unwavering focus on federal and state courts and building power by providing unique resources to maximize nonprofits’ advocacy capacity. AFJ aims to build the strength of progressive movements by training and educating nonprofit organizations on advocacy and harnessing their collective power to transform our state and federal courts. AFJ envisions a vibrant, ambitious, multiracial constitutional democracy where historically marginalized voices are amplified to upend exclusionary systems and center justice in our institutions of power.
