The New Pennsylvania Project deploys to Georgia

Posted on March 7, 2023 by Tiffany

(WOLF) — The New Pennsylvania Project -a voting rights organization founded in May of last year sent 10 people around the Commonwealth to Savannah, Georgia for the U-S Senate runoff election on December 6th against Democratic Incumbent Rapheal Warnock and Republican Hershel Walker.

“Were just grateful for the opportunity and the capacity that we have has an organization to come and lend support to Georgia, its so important.”

Kadida kenner is the CEO of the New Pennsylvania Project.

She says the non-profit sent 10 staff members today to support the efforts of ‘The Georgia Project’ by knocking on doors to rally those of color to get to the polls next month.

It’s really important that everyone exercises their franchise and so for us to be named in honor of The New Georgia Project and knowing the incredible work they did as an organization to have 95% voter registration rates that’s excellent and at the same time we have to turn these folks out to in this election.”

Georgia law requires a run-off election after neither of the two candidates cleared 50 percent of the vote back on November 8th

Taiba sultana, the regional organizing director for The New Pennsylvania project says they are not just knocking on doors, but also stressing the importance of voting.

“A lot of people don’t even know there’s an election going on, if there’s an election going on they don’t know what the issues are, so its important to remind them about the issues.

Kenner says The New Pennsylvania Project centers communities in urban, rural, and suburban P-A.

This year , we’re told the organization helped register nearly 20-thousand Pennsylvanians to vote and engage in “Get out to vote” effort by knocking on thousands of doors in the Commonwealth.

The New Pennsylvania Project will be in Georgia till Tuesday, November 29th, and will return for their second trip on December 3rd for the run-off election on December 6th.
